NRA Training classes

Firearm training that emphasizes safety, fundamentals of marksmanship and live fire practice.  


Class size is limited with maximum of 10 to 12 students depending on format with a minimum of four to hold class. 

Individualized instruction during live-fire exercises. 


A minimum of four students is required for the course to proceed.  If this threshold is not met, an alternative date or private instruction may be offered. NRA membership is not required but preferred for enrollment. 


Payment is required in advance to secure your spot and tuition is non-refundable; participants are not confirmed until payment is received in full at least two weeks prior to the class start date. 


For entry level classes, all necessary firearms, ammunition, targets, hearing and eye protection can be provided. Students should arrive with a notebook, pen, appropriate outdoor attire (hat or cap, long pants, closed-toe shoes), as well as their own lunch, water, and snacks. 


All course will also cover next steps for continued skills development and advanced training opportunities. For questions or additional  information, please contact the instructor directly.

Please note: Under no circumstances are NO PERSONAL FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION 

are allowed in the classroom unless instructed by staff. 


All students must be legally allowed to own or operate with or around firearms in accordance with CA state laws


NRA Basic ClaSses

The NRA Basic Pistol Course is intended for both new and experienced shooters seeking to establish a strong foundation in handgun safety, operation, and marksmanship. The program incorporates classroom instruction as well as hands-on training to equip students with the confidence and knowledge required for responsible firearm handling. 


This course is particularly suitable for first-time gun owners, individuals needing a refresher, or those preparing for advanced firearms training. The curriculum emphasizes acquiring the essential knowledge, skills, and attitude for safe pistol handling, addresses cleaning and maintenance techniques, and guides students toward continued skill development through live-fire practice and further training opportunities. 


Key topics include firearm safety protocols, pistol components and function, ammunition knowledge, proper stance and grip, sight alignment, trigger control, safe loading and storage, shooting fundamentals, and range safety practices. Participants will also engage in a nationally standardized shooting qualification and receive all course materials along with a certificate upon completion.

The NRA Basic Shotgun Course offers a comprehensive program designed for individuals of all experience levels. The curriculum covers essential shotgun fundamentals, including safe gun handling, shotgun components and operation, shell malfunctions, and shooting techniques for both straight away and angled targets. 


Participants receive all course materials and range fees are included. Classroom instruction addresses NRA safety rules, shotgun shell components, range procedures, and shooting fundamentals, while hands-on coaching and practical range exercises foster proficiency and confidence. Students spend 1–2 hours on firearm handling and an open-book test, followed by 3–4 hours of live-fire range practice. 


The course emphasizes ongoing skill development, safe handling, and proper maintenance of shotguns for engaging moving targets

NRA ADVANCED CLASSES

The NRA Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) course requires successful completion of the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting as a prerequisite. Prospective students must confirm their completion and qualifications prior to registration. Participants are expected to supply a concealable handgun (9mm or larger), an appropriate holster that covers the trigger guard (no Serpa or inside-the-waistband holsters), belt-mounted magazine pouches, at least three magazines or speed loaders, a sturdy gun belt, an open-face concealment garment, and 250 rounds of ammunition. Additional recommended items include a pen, notepad, food, and water for range activities.


The course provides comprehensive instruction in firearm safety, selection of defensive pistols, carry modes, concealment techniques, drawing from concealment, basic defensive pistol skills, California CCW law, defensive mindset, mental health considerations, and situational awareness. The curriculum includes both classroom learning and live-fire range practice, emphasizing practical defensive skills such as holster draw, reloads, and malfunction clearance under timed conditions. This is an advanced course and is not suitable for beginners.


Instruction covers the fundamentals of concealed carry, the legal aspects of firearm ownership and self defense, as well as the legal aftermath of a defensive shooting. Students will participate in classroom discussions and demonstrations, followed by live fire exercises on an outdoor range

Defensive Handgun

Registration for this advanced defensive pistol course requires successful completion of the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting. Prospective students must confirm their eligibility by emailing the date of completion and their shooting qualification score prior to payment.


The course is designed to test and refine the skills necessary to be a responsible concealed carry weapon (CCW) holder and defensive shooter. It is not intended for beginners; prior handgun experience is mandatory, and completion of prerequisite courses such as NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting, NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home, or a CCW course is recommended.


Participants are required to provide a handgun (9mm or larger), a strongside outside-the-waistband holster, a concealment garment, at least three magazines or speed loaders, magazine or speed loader pouches, and a minimum of 250 rounds of ammunition.


The curriculum emphasizes practical defensive pistol skills and sound decision making. Instruction covers safe firearm handling, holster draw techniques, precision shooting, malfunction clearance, and legal principles regarding use of force. Both classroom discussions and live-fire exercises are included to enhance accuracy, speed, and confidence.

The NRA Range Safety Officer Course is a classroom based program designed for individuals with substantial firearms experience who wish to become NRA Certified Range Safety Officers. The course is nationally recognized and accepted by shooting range facilities throughout the United States. It does not include live fire exercises and is not intended for beginners.


Develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to organize, conduct, and supervise safe shooting activities and range operations. Prepare candidates for the roles and responsibilities of a Range Safety Officer, including implementation of Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conducting range inspections, enforcing range rules, delivering safety briefings, and managing emergency procedures. Instruct candidates on the identification and safe resolution of firearm stoppages and malfunctions across various firearm types. 


All required classroom materials are provided to participants.  Successful completion qualifies candidates for NRA RSO Certification. Candidates must hold a valid NRA Membership ID to receive certification and complete credentialing with the NRA.

Metallic reloading

This comprehensive, hands-on NRA Reloading course provides students with guided instruction through the NRA reloading textbook, focusing on both straight-walled pistol and bottle-necked rifle cartridges. 


Participants will gain practical experience by applying textbook concepts to actual reloading tasks. The curriculum also addresses the proper storage and disposal of reloading components and includes instruction on the use of both single stage and progressive reloading presses, as well as all aspects of cartridge preparation.
